Women's Volleyball Falls to Rivier; Defeats Lasell

NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 22, 2018 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team split a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matches on Saturday. The Chargers fell to Rivier 3-0, but defeated Lasell, 3-1.

Colby-Sawyer goes to 7-7 overall and 2-2 in the GNAC. The Chargers will host Southern Vermont on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Rivier improves to 9-5 overall and 4-0 after a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Colby-Sawyer and Lasell. The Raiders travel to Suffolk on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. first serve.

Lasell falls to 4-12 overall and 2-2 in conference action after two losses on the day. The Lasers play at Regis on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

RIVIER 3, COLBY-SAWYER 0 – 25-11, 25-18, 25-17

The Raiders posted 42 kills in three sets to earn their eighth victory of the season. The team was led by an 11-kill effort from junior Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.). She also had a match-high 20 digs. Senior setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) registered 31 assists, 11 digs and was 6-for-7 in attacks (.857). Junior Jess Whyte (Plymouth, Mass.) added eight kills on .353 hitting, two blocks and three block assists.

First-year Maddie Bromley (Truckee, Calif.) led the Chargers with six kills. Senior Courtney Murray (Quincy, Mass.) and first-year Katarina Hornung (Stratton, Colo.) finished with five kills apiece. First-year Anna Allen (Los Angeles, Calif.) contributed 13 assists and seven digs, while junior Morgan Flynn (Reading, Mass.) had a team best 19 digs.

RIVIER 3, LASELL 0 – 25-11, 25-21, 25-17

Rivier's Dunster turned in another impressive performance with 16 kills on .452 hitting in the 3-0 win. First-year teammate Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, Conn.) also reached double figures with 10 kills on .318 hitting. The Raiders collected one solo block and 12 block assists in the match.

Lasell was led by senior Olivia Addington (Orange, Calif.) and first-year Kiana Perez (Juncos, P.R.) who had 11 kills apiece. Sophomore libero Allie Jo Amos (Prescott, Ariz.) collected 12 digs.

COLBY-SAWYER 3, LASELL 1 – 25-20, 9-25, 25-18, 25-22

Courtney Murray paced the Chargers' offense with 14 kills. Junior Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.) hit .438 to finish with 10 kills. Anna Allen had 32 assists, 14 digs and seven kills on .583 hitting. Morgan Flynn had a match best 22 digs.

Lasell received an impressive 23 kills from Kiana Perez. She also had 17 digs and three aces. Olivia Addington reached double figures once again to finish with a double-double of 10 kills and 16 digs. First-year setter Jess Langan (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) posted a match-high 38 assists.
