Women's Volleyball Drops Two at Home Tri-Match

NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 17, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Framingham State and Western New England on Saturday.

Framingham State picks up a pair of wins over Colby-Sawyer and Western New England to improve to 6-4. The Rams will host Salve Regina on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Western New England split a pair of matches today with a 3-0 loss to Framingham and a 3-2 victory over Colby-Sawyer. The Golden Bears go to 7-3 and will travel to Curry on Tuesday for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener at 6 p.m.

Colby-Sawyer falls to 3-9 and will hit the road for the first time in 12 days when the team travels to Amherst on Wednesday evening.

Framingham State 3, Colby-Sawyer 0 – 25-19, 25-22, 25-21

Rams senior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) led all players with an impressive 19 kills on .236 hitting. She added eight digs and a match-high five blocks. Junior Sarah Leonard (Southborough, Mass.) tallied eight kills and 23 digs. Sophomore setter Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) collected a match best 30 assists.

Colby-Sawyer received seven kills from freshman Allie Rogers (Sandown, N.H.) and senior Gabrielle Rodriguez (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.). Freshman Micaela Cardozo (Woodbridge, Conn.) contributed six kills, 14 digs and a pair of blocks. Freshman Caroline McCoy (Longmeadow, Mass.) had a team best 23 digs, while freshman Olivia Goodrich (Epping, N.H.) added 29 assists and four kills.

Framingham State 3, Western New England 0 – 25-15, 25-22, 25-14

Alycia Rackliffe once again led the Rams with nine kills and added 10 digs. Sarah Leonard had eight kills, eight digs and a match best four aces. Mackenzie Whalen finished with 22 assists, four digs and a pair of aces.

Western New England was led by a match-high 11-kill performance from junior Carly Skibinski (Milford, N.J.). Junior Alona Kornberg (Fair Lawn, N.J.) was second on the team with five kills. Senior setter Jenna Leuck (Dumont, N.J.) collected 20 assists and 13 digs in two sets of action. Junior Brianna Roath (Jackson, N.J.) led all players with 18 digs.

Western New England 3, Colby-Sawyer 2 – 25-21, 18-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-10

Carly Skibinski of Western New England led all players with 18 kills on .333 hitting. Freshman Cassandra Holmes (Ellington, Conn.) hit an impressive .438 to finish with nine kills. Freshman Ashley Matthews (Salem, N.H.) collected eight kills and 12 digs.

Gabrielle Rodriguez led Colby-Sawyer with 15 kills. She added 17 digs and a match best six aces. Freshman Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.) finished with nine kills on .450 hitting and five blocks. Olivia Goodrich had a double-double of 38 assists and 10 digs. Caroline McCoy had a match best 25 digs.
