Women's Volleyball Takes Two at Home Quad Match

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 14, 2017 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team earned a pair of 3-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victories over Lyndon and Johnson at Saturday's home quad match held at the Hogan Sports Center.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 11-14 overall and 5-0 in the NAC after today's victories. The Chargers will host Saint Joseph's of Maine on Monday evening.

New England College won both of its matches via a 3-0 score against Lyndon and Johnson to improve to 11-12 overall and 4-1 in the NAC. The Pilgrims play at Rhode Island College on Tuesday.

Lyndon dropped both of its matches to NEC and Colby-Sawyer to fall to 2-15 overall and 1-4 in the NAC. The Hornets will host Green Mountain and Castleton next Saturday.

Johnson falls to 0-17 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Badgers host Southern Vermont on Wednesday.

COLBY-SAWYER 3, LYNDON 0 – 25-4, 25-4, 25-12
Colby-Sawyer sophomore Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.) hit .857 to finish with six kills. Junior Courtney Murray (Quincy, Mass.) added six kills on .400 hitting. Junior Nicole Olivieri (Salem, N.H.) registered five kills and a team best six aces. Freshman Brook-Lynne Marcotte (Plaistow, N.H.) had six assists and a kill, while freshman Nicole Matcheski (Sanbornton, N.H.) recorded three aces.  

Lyndon freshman Paige Quensel (Vergennes, Vt.) collected a team best three digs and an ace.

COLBY-SAWYER 3, JOHNSON 0 – 25-3, 25-8, 25-4
The Chargers were led by Courtney Murray's 12 kills on .647 hitting. Senior Alli Lahiff (Haverhill, Mass.) added six kills on eight attempts and Cox chipped in another six kills. Nicole Matcheski recorded 10 aces, while Brook-Lynne Marcotte tallied eight aces and eight assists. Freshman Bre Sheehan (Stillwater, N.Y.) added a pair of aces and an assist.

Sophomore Kimberly Reville (Burke, N.Y.) collected a match-high five digs for Johnson. 

NEC 3, JOHNSON 0 – 25-11, 25-5, 25-2
NEC freshman Kaitlyn Walker (Cottonwood, Calif.) led all players with eight kills on .636 hitting. Freshman Dreka Griffin (Calera, Ala.) chipped in six kills. Freshman setter Kennedy Somavia (Red Bluff, Calif.) had 17 assists and 11 aces.
Johnson received a pair of kills and five digs from sophomore Kimberly Reville (Burke, N.Y.). Freshman Sala Sarr (Tucson, Ariz.) chipped in five digs and an ace.

NEC 3, LYNDON 0 – 25-3, 25-10, 25-5
Dreka Griffin accounted for 20 of the Pilgrims' 36 kills in the victory over Lyndon. She hit an impressive .750. Freshman Kayleigh MacDougall (Farmington, N.H.) hit .583 to finish with seven kills. Kennedy Somavia added 29 assists and four aces.

Lyndon was paced by a three-kill effort from junior Faith Richard (Acushnet, Mass.).
