Monks Sweep Non-Conference Tri-Match

STANDISH, Maine - Saint Joseph's College (3-5) defeated UMaine-Presque Isle (1-6), 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17, 15-11) and NVU-Lyndon (0-8), 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-12) in a non-conference volleyball tri-match at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday.

MONKS 3, OWLS 2:

Saint Joseph's rallied from a 2-0 deficit to pick up a thrilling five-set triumph as the Monks posted a .235 hitting percentage in a 25-20 fourth set win and clinched the deciding frame with a 10-2 run.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Freshman Allison McMullen (Jacksonville, Fla.) boasted 12 kills with three digs
  • Senior Sarah Quinn (Dover, N.H.) registered 11 kills with a .400 attack rate and four digs
  • Junior Hanna Holden (Stoughton, Mass.) delivered 25 assists, three aces, and five digs
  • Junior Amanda Darby (Shrewsbury, Mass.) posted a double-double with 11 assists and 11 digs
  • Freshman Sierra Burns (Peyton, Colo.) produced five service aces with two kills and 12 digs
  • Freshman Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) posted seven kills, three aces, four assists, and three block assists
  • Senior Nicole Baron (Derry, N.H.) chipped in with seven kills

LEADERS – UMAINE-PRESQUE ISLE:

  • Paige McArthur recorded nine kills, six aces, and 18 digs
  • Kaya Amoroso contributed 24 assists, eight kills, and four total blocks
  • Alexis Engel added seven kills and 12 digs
  • Amalia Erives posted seven kills and nine digs

MONKS 3, HORNETS 0:

The Monks were in control from start to finish in the nightcap with season-highs in attack percentage (.299), after notching 30 kills and 10 errors in 67 attempts, and 20 service aces.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Senior Olivia Kent (Ellington, Conn.) delivered eight kills with a .429 attack rate
  • Sophomore Sam Holland (Gilmanton, N.H.) belted seven service aces
  • Quinn and Baron registered five kills apiece
  • Burns added five aces and 10 digs
  • Darby chipped in with seven assists and four aces

LEADERS – NVU-LYNDON:

  • Kersene Austinville notched three kills
  • Charlotte Morris posted five assists and nine digs
  • Mary Weissauer chipped in with two kills and three service aces
