NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 23, 2017 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday with Amherst and Husson at the Hogan Sports Center.
The match between Colby-Sawyer and Husson was a non-conference contest that does not affect the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) standings.
Colby-Sawyer defeated Husson 3-1, but fell to Amherst 3-0 to go to 4-11 on the season. The Chargers will hit the road on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tilt at Middlebury.
Amherst won both matches today in 3-0 fashion over Colby-Sawyer and Husson to improve to 9-3. The Mammoths will travel to Connecticut College on Friday for a 7 p.m. first serve.
Husson drops to 8-8 after losses to Colby-Sawyer and Amherst. The Eagles return to the court on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. home match against Unity.
COLBY-SAWYER 3, HUSSON 1 – 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19
Colby-Sawyer was led by a 16-kill effort from sophomore
Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.). She hit an impressive .361 and got the match-clinching block at the end of the fourth set. Junior
Courtney Murray (Quincy, Mass.) also reached double figure kills with 15 and added 15 digs. Sophomore setter
Olivia Goodrich (Epping, N.H.) recorded 43 assists. Junior
Nicole Olivieri (Salem, N.H.) registered a match best 21 digs. Sophomore
Morgan Flynn (Reading, Mass.) had five aces and 15 digs.
Senior Bailey Cote (Biddeford, Maine) led the Eagles with 10 kills on .364 hitting. Senior Nia Arranaga (San Jose, Calif.) added nine kills and six digs. Sophomore Delaney Chisholm (Tewksbury, Mass.) tallied a team best 16 digs. Senior Lindsay Chapman (Gorham, Maine) collected eight kills, six digs and a couple of blocks.
AMHERST 3, HUSSON 0 – 25-4, 25-6, 25-16
Amherst hit .451 as a team and was led by sophomore Cameron Hendricks (Glastonbury, Conn.) who had 13 kills on .480 hitting. Sophomore Emily Kolsky (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) also reached double figures with 10 kills on .533 hitting. Sophomore setter Adelaide Shunk (Larkspur, Calif.) recorded a double-double of 17 assists and 10 digs.
Husson was led by sophomore Riley Mooers (Mount Desert, Maine). She finished with four kills and eight digs. Sophomore Hanna Hembrow (Milford, N.H.) collected 11 assists and eight digs.
AMHERST 3, Colby-Sawyer 0 – 25-11, 25-21, 25-10
The Mammoths were led by Hendricks once again with 13 kills. She added eight digs. Marialexa Natsis (Los Angeles, Calif.) had a double-double of 12 kills on .480 hitting and 11 digs.
Colby-Sawyer was led by Cox who had 10 kills. Murray added six kills and nine digs. Senior
Alli Lahiff (Haverhill, Mass.) contributed five kills on .400 hitting.
