Monks Sweep GNAC Tri-Match with NEC & Albertus Magnus

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (10-13, 7-5 GNAC) won a pair of games in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's volleyball tri-match on Mike McDevitt Court at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday.

The Monks opened play with a 3-1 (25-19, 25-15, 19-25, 25-19) triumph over New England College (10-13, 5-7 GNAC) and completed the sweep with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-19) victory over Albertus Magnus College (6-17, 1-9 GNAC). NEC defeated Albertus, 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-15, 25-23), in the middle match.

TEAM STATS:

The Monks led in kills (49-32), hitting percentage (.182 / .054), assists (47-31), service aces (14-8), and digs (71-64) while the Pilgrims posted an 8-6 lead in blocks on the afternoon.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Sophomore Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) delivered 12 kills, five aces, and 17 digs
  • Junior Maggie Sylvester (Barrington, N.H.) notched 11 kills and three digs
  • Freshman Larisa Comolli (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with nine kills, a .389 attack percentage, three digs, and two block assists
  • Sophomore Nadia Sixto (Chattanooga, Tenn.) added seven kills, five digs, and five total blocks
  • Senior Kailyn Chamberlin (Milford, N.H.) posted three kills, 26 assists, three aces, and eight digs
  • Senior Abby Jerome (Barrington, N.H.) contributed 21 digs and a pair of aces

LEADERS – NEC:

  • Torrance Robertson recorded eight kills, seven digs, and three total blocks
  • Lily-Anne Heywood contributed six kills and 11 digs
  • Maeve Amarosa posted six kills
  • Alexandra Seijas tallied 11 assists, three aces, and seven digs
  • Aurora Gutierrez-Macias chipped in with three kills, 12 assists, and five digs

Saint Joseph's held the lead in kills (41-22), attack percentage (.250 / .066), assists (38-19), service aces (6-3), digs (63-53), and total blocks (6-2).

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Sylvester enjoyed another strong outing with 13 kills, a .550 attack rate, and six digs
  • Briones notched a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs
  • Sixto boasted seven kills with a .429 attack percentage
  • Chamberlin delivered 27 assists with two kills and four digs
  • Jerome added four aces and 19 digs

LEADERS – ALBERTUS MAGNUS:

  • Majo Pelaez registered 12 kills on 35 attempts with two aces and 14 digs
  • Shalese Gordon netted two kills, 19 assists, and eight digs
  • Amanda Zdru chipped in with 13 digs and Joismar Aviles delivered 10 digs
