Volleyball Sweeps Wellesley and Castleton

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier women's volleyball team took down both Wellesley and Castleton in non-conference action today in the Muldoon Center.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/10/22

- Score: Rivier 3, Wellesley 0: Sets (25-14, 25-14, 25-22) Rivier 3, Castleton 0: Sets (25-21, 25-11, 25-15)

- Records: Rivier (4-1), Wellesley (3-3), Castleton (2-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME ONE

-  In the first match, the Raiders played clean volleyball after only committing 28 errors to Wellesley's 45. Rivier served incredibly well, racking up 16 service aces as a team. Olivia Garand (Litchfield, NH) led the way with five. With the Blue struggling to serve and receive the serve, it kept the Raiders offensive numbers down through the three sets. Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) topped the team with six kills on the day. Cadia Greene (N Kingston, RI), who has played a significant role in the Raiders offense this season so far, finished right behind her with five kills. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) finished with a team high 15 assists along with seven digs.  

- Wellesley matched Riv in kills with 22 apiece. Kate Salembier was the team's go-to option on offense as well as defense. She finished the match with a game high nine kills and ten digs. Mikayla Tansil topped the match as well in assists with 18.

-  Service Aces: Rivier 16, Wellesley 2

 HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME TWO

- The Raiders offense was firing on all cylinders in their second match of the day. They finished with 42 kills and a .405 kill percentage. Greene topped all players in kills with 12, followed by Lily Sills (Carlisle, MA) with 11. Riv added another 18 service aces to their team stats Garand tallying another five and Pollard putting up four. Pollard also racked up a match high 33 assists. Racevicius had a solid nine kills with a match high ten digs.

- The Spartans could only put together 12 kills through the three sets. Jenna Schott led the team with six. Maddie Delsignore topped her squad with seven assists.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Kills: Rivier 42, Castleton 12

- Assists: Rivier 40, Castleton 10

- Digs: Rivier 40, Castleton 23
