t-No. 14 Tufts Still the Top Team in Week Six NEWVA Poll

BEVERLY, Mass. - October 15, 2019 - With a 2-0 week, Tufts, the No. 14th ranked team in the most recent AVCA DIII Coaches Poll, Tufts remained perefct at 16-0. With that, the Jumbos also remained the unanimous top choice in the sixth NEWVA Poll of 2019. 

The sixth NEWVA regional poll will be released on Tuesday, October 15.

Currently tied with Juniata for 14th in the country in the most recent AVCA poll, the Jumbos went 2-0 on the week, sweeping Clark and Trinity to remain perfect at 16-0 on the season. Of their 16 wins, 11 have been 3-0 sweeps. The Jumbos take on Brandies, Springfield, Babson and MIT this week.

2. No. 24 Wesleyan (Conn.) (15-2, 6-1 NESCAC) | 166 points

The No. 24 team in the country in the most recent AVCA poll, the Cardinals went 3-0 this week, defeating Keene St. 3-1, Middlebury 3-0 and Amherst 3-1. Wesleyan takes on Trinity and Juniata this week.

3. No. 23 Babson (19-1, 5-1 NEWMAC) | 151 points

The No. 23 ranked team in the country in the most recent AVCA poll, the Beavers went 2-0 on the week, taking down Brandeis 3-0, and NEWVA No. 6 Endicott 3-1. The Beavers take on Wheaton and three NEWVA ranked teams in No. t-14 Williams, No. 1 Tufts and No. 12 Middlebury, this week.

4. No. 17 (AVCA) Johnson & Wales (R.I.) (14-3, 4-0 GNAC) | 149 points 

The No. 17 ranked team in the country in the most recent AVCA poll, the Wildcats went 1-0 last week, sweeping GNAC foe Suffolk. The Wildcats take on Albertus Magnus, Trinity and Juniata this week.

5. Wellesley (15-3, 7-0 NEWMAC) | 126 points

New to the NEWVA top five this week is the Blue of Wellesley. A perfect 7-0 in NEWMAC play and 15-3 overall, Wellesley defeated Clark, Worcester State and FDU-Florham last week. The Blue take on NEWVA No. 10 Coast Guard, No. 9 Amherst, Roger Williams and Bates this week.
