Volleyball sweeps Norwich and Dean by 3-0 scores

Norwich, VT- The MCLA Volleyball team held off Norwich in the opening two sets and then pulled away in the third to earn a 3-0 victory over the Cadets.  The win was the second straight for the Trailblazers.  The Trailblazers then completed the sweep by easily defeating Dean College by an identical 3-0 score.

MCLA is now 3-3 after collecting their third straight victory.

MCLA vs. Norwich

MCLA led by nine points in the opening set only to see Norwich rally.  They cut the lead to one on two occasions, but the Trailblazers eventually eeked out a 25-23 set one win.  They would once again hold off the Cadets in the second set by a score of 26-24 before winning the match with a third set win of 25-15.

Reagan Scattergood had a nice game finishing with 10 kills on just 17 attacks.  Teammate Kelly Moczulski matched her with 10 kills and added 8 digs in the win.  Tessa Sestito set up the offense to the tune of 25 assists in the win.

MCLA served the ball very well notching 16 aces on the day.  Scattergood had five while Moczulski added four.

Norwich was led by Michele Zummo and Julia Schroeder's team best 6 kills.

MCLA vs. Dean

The Trailblazers rolled over the Bulldogs in game two.  The took the sets by scores of 25-12, 25-14, and 25-12.

Laiken Cornwell-L'Hote collected a match best 7 kills in the win.  Scattergood continued her strong play with 7 more kills of her own.  Sestito was strong again setting the attackers up with 27 assists.  Houa Xiong ended with a team best 10 digs to pace the defense.

Dean was hampered by 16 errors on the afternoon.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Thursday when they host Bay Path at 6pm.
