Sestito collects 1,000th career assist as MCLA splits Tri-Match

Utica, NY- MCLA senior Tessa Sestito collected her 1,000th career assist in leading the Trailblazers to a 3-0 win over Utica in the closing game of today's tri-match.  The Trailblazers dropped the opening tilt to Kings (PA) 3-0.

Sestito entered today needed 53 assists to top the coveted mark.  She collected 23 assists in the opening match with Kings before landing the milestone with 36 assists in the nightcap victory.  MCLA is now 11-6 on the season.

Kings vs. MCLA-

The Trailblazers dropped the opening game to Kings 3-0 by set scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-12.  Ahna Schlaefter paced the offense with 6 kills.  Sestito did her part with the 23 assists and also added 6 digs.  Houa Xiong notched 11 digs for the Trailblazers.

MCLA was hampered by 20 errors on the afternoon.

Kings was paced by Marta Pawka's match best 9 kills.  Wiatt Hoffmann added 27 assists in the win.

MCLA vs. Utica-

Against the hosts, MCLA took the sets 25-14, 25-18, and 25-21 to come away with the split.  

Sestito was magnificent with 36 assists and 15 digs to complete the double double.  Kelly Moczulski rebounded from a subpar opening game to collect a match best 15 kills for MCLA.  Reagan Scattergood added 8 in the win.  Madison Jayne notched 13 digs while Natasha Stewart had a game high 18.

The Trailblazers are back at home on Tuesday night when they host Sage at 6pm.
