WENHAM, Mass. - The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team swept their first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match of the season, 3-0 over Gordon College Tuesday evening.

How It Happened

  • Amanda Snyder tied the game at 7-7 after the senior dropped an ace onto the Salve side. The Seahawks soon caught fire as they tallied seven-straight points to go on top 13-7. Jamie Tafoya put the Fighting Scots back in it as the senior slammed down back-to-back kills, bringing it to 14-11.
  • Salve later went ahead 21-15 and never looked back, taking the first frame, 25-18.
  • The Seahawks jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the second set forcing the Scots to call a timeout. The Scots came out of the timeout focused going on a 5-1 run of their own which forced the Seahawks to call a timeout to stop their momentum.
  • Gordon and Salve remained neck and neck before Salve pulled head, 19-17. Snyder brought the Scots within one (20-19) with a monstrous kill but the Seahawks thwarted any Scot comeback, taking the 25-19 win and 2-0 lead.
  • Sophia Scola served Gordon to a 5-0 lead from behind the service line to open up the third set. Salve, however, battled back to tie it up at six-all. The Scots and Seahawks tied it up five times throughout the match before the Seahawks looked to close it out with a 24-20 lead.
  • With the pressure at its highest all night, the Fighting Scots clawed their way back to tie it up at 24-24. However, Salve's Nicole Karabaich (So./Greenlawn, N.Y.) spoiled the Scots' comeback with two kills to seal the victory for her Seahawks.
