BEVERLY, Mass. - November 17, 2016 - After winning the NCAA Division III New England Regional Tournament, Tufts claimed seven first place votes and top position in the final NEWVA Regional Poll.

2. UMass Boston (29-5 overall, 22-3 in-region), 96 points UMass Boston captured their seventh Little East Championship after dropping Eastern Conn. St. (3-1) in the semifinals and Plymouth St. (3-0) in the championship match. The Beacons continued into the NCAA New England Regional where they handed Johnson & Wales (R.I.) their first loss of the season before falling to the eventually regional champions Tufts in four sets. |

Springfield (29-6 overall, 21-4 in-region), 92 points Despite exiting the NEWMAC Tournament in the semifinals with a loss to Clark in straight sets, Springfield made a run at the NCAA New England Regional title by beating the conference champions of the CCC in Endicott (3-1) and the NEWMAC in MIT (3-1) to reach the championship match. The Pride fell 3-1 to Tufts to end their 2016 season. |

4. MIT (29-5 overall, 23-3 in-region), 83 points MIT captured their fifth NEWMAC Championship by defeating Clark 3-1 to take the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA New England Tournament. The Engineers bested the MASCAC champions, Framingham St., in straight sets and battled their NEWMAC rival Springfield to a 3-1 loss to end their regional run. |

Johnson & Wales (33-1 overall, 33-1 in-region), 66 points Johnson & Wales' historic 2016 season continued through the GNAC Tournament as the Wildcats swept through Suffolk and Simmons before beating Rivier 3-1, marking their seventh conference championship and an automatic qualifier into the NCAA New England Tournament. JWU's undefeated season came to a close, however, in the first round as they were knocked out 3-0 by UMass Boston. |
