Babson Snaps Volleyball's Six-Game Win Streak

BABSON PARK, Mass. – Simmons volleyball's (9-7) six game win streak came to a halt dropping a non-conference bout against Babson College (18-1), 3-0, on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1: Babson 25, Simmons 15
Beavers led 8-6 in the opening set before pulling away thanks to an 8-1 run that included kills from three different players. Senior Olivia Leinenweber (Neptune Beach, Calif.) served up back-to-back aces to push the margin to 20-9 before taking the first set, 25-15.

SET 2: Babson 25, Simmons 18
Game two featured 11 ties and five lead changes with neither team leading by more than three until Babson scored seven consecutive points to end the frame. Senior outside hitter Claire Conners led three Sharks with two kills each, while graduate senior Chelsea Simmons and senior Kat Simeonidis paced the offense with three assists.

SET 3: Babson 25, Simmons 16
The Beavers came out strong in the third set totaling 12 kills and hitting at a .303 clip to complete the sweep. However, the Sharks never backed down. Simmons led he offense tallying four kills, while first-year Hannah Pridgeon followed up with two kills on four attempts to go along with a team-high five digs.

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Senior outside hitter Claire Conners led the Sharks with seven kills on the evening.
  • First-year Hannah Pridgeon followed up with five kills, while leading the defense with nine defensive digs.
  • Graduate senior Chelsea Simmons and senior Kat Simeonids combined to pace the offense with 14 assists.
