BEVERLY, Mass. - October 20, 2015 - The seventh NEWVA Regional Poll welcomed Tufts back into the top-five after the Jumbos leapt over fellow NESCAC member Williams, but the big mover was Babson (10th to 7th) as the Beavers took down #23 MIT, Tufts, and Williams in a 3-1 week.

1. MIT (26-2 overall, 17-1 in-region), 105 points, seven first place votes

MIT took a hit when they fell to Babson in straight sets in Babson Park but rebounded nicely against a daunting slate of NESCAC opponents at the New England Challenge. The Engineers bested Middlebury 3-0 before taking down both Tufts and Williams in five sets. MIT is already 1-0 this week, beating Emerson 3-0, and travel to Coast Guard on Saturday before NEWMAC playoffs begin.

2. Springfield (26-2 overall, 21-2 in-region), 98 points

Springfield went 4-0 last week and didn't drop a set to remain in the #2 slot behind MIT. The Pride took care of WPI, Hamilton, Trinity (Conn.), and Wesleyan (Conn.) as they won their 13th-straight match in October and 17th in-a-row overall. Home contests against Amherst and Wellesley close out the regular season before the NEWMAC Tournament.

3. Amherst (19-2 overall, 18-2 in-region), 91 points

Amherst went unblemished as well as the Hall of Fame Invitational last weekend, handling Vassar, Brandeis, and Bridgewater St. in straight set victories. This week's challenges are all on the road starting with Springfield Wednesday before back-to-back NESCAC matches with Trinity (Conn.) and Wesleyan (Conn.).

4. Bowdoin (17-4 overall, 16-4 in-region), 84 points

Like Amherst and Springfield, Bowdoin also failed to drop a set in any of their matches last week at the UMass Boston Invitational. The Polar Bears did it against NEWVA-ranked foes Clark and Roger Williams on Friday before dropping the host Beacons and Augsburg in straight sets as well. Bowdoin closes out their regular season at Colby on Friday before a Saturday tri-match with Bates and Husson.

5. Tufts (16-6 overall, 15-4 in-region), 68 points

Despite going 1-2 at the New England Challenge, beating Wellesley in four then getting tripped up by MIT in five sets and Babson in four sets, Tufts finds their way back into the top-five. The Jumbos take the place of Williams who went 0-3 at the same tournament, including a loss to Wellesley in five. Tufts visits Hamilton and Middlebury before playoffs begin.
