1. Johnson & Wales (R.I.) (17-0 overall, 17-0 in-region), 104 points, six first place votes

Ranked second in the first NEWVA Regional Poll last week, Johnson & Wales rattled off four impressive victories; a midweek sweep of conference rival Simmons and a perfect 3-0 record at the Roger Williams Invitational where they bested Coast Guard, Worcester St., and NEWVA No. 13 Roger Williams. The Wildcats have already registered a 3-0 victory over Anna Maria this week for their seventh consecutive straight set triumph. They travel to Western New England for a tri-match with the Golden Bears and UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, October 8.

2. Tufts (11-1 overall, 11-1 in-region), 94 points, one first place votes

Tufts moved up one spot from last week's NEWVA Regional Poll after a 2-0 week which was highlighted by a pair of NESCAC wins over NEWVA No. 12 ranked Wesleyan (Conn.) followed by a 3-0 sweep of Trinity (Conn.) the next day. The Jumbos took down NEWVA No. 9 Rivier on Tuesday evening in straight sets and this weekend return to their conference slate with matches against Hamiton and Middlebury.  

3. MIT (15-3 overall, 12-1 in-region), 93 points

MIT bested NEWVA No. 7 Clark in a midweek NEWMAC showdown in a five-set thriller to start off a 3-0 week for the Engineers. Over the weekend, MIT shutdown Wheaton and Framingham St. to run their recent win streak to five matches. Already this week, MIT has swept NEWVA No. 11 Wellesley and will wrap up this week's slate with a home tilt with Colby-Sawyer. 

4. UMass Boston (13-3 overall, 10-2 in-region), 85 points

A 2-2 week forced UMass Boston out of the top slot from last week's NEWVA Regional Poll but the Beacons remain in the top-five. UMB suffered a losses to NEWVA No. 8 Middlebury and No. 11 Wellesley while garnering wins over No. 15 Babson (3-0) and Plymouth St. (3-2). The Beacons took down UMass Dartmouth in three sets on Tuesday evening and on Saturday travel to Colby-Sawyer for a tri-match with the Chargers and Coast Guard. 

5. Springfield (11-3 overall, 8-1 in-region), 78 points

Springfield defeated Wheaton (Mass.) in their lone match last week to remain in the fifth position in this week's NEWVA Regional Poll. The Pride have already captured a straight set win over NEWVA No. 7 Clark this week before hosting Westfield St., Endicott (No. 15), Bard, and Amherst (No. 6) in their own Tom Hay Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
