Wesleyan Still Unanimous Top Choice as Babson Moves Into Tie with Tufts for No. 2

BEVERLY, Mass. - September 27, 2022 - For the third NEWVA coaches poll of the 2022 season, the Cardinals of Wesleyan (Conn.) have remained as the unanimous choice as the top team amongst the NEWVA coaches. The Cardinals were up to No. 16 in last week's AVCA Coaches Poll, and sit ahead of No. 22 Babson, No. 24 Tufts, Endicott and No. 19 MIT, who all respectively round out spots two through five, with Babson and Tufts tying for second.

The fourth NEWVA regional poll will be released on Tuesday, October, 4.

The Cardinals went 2-1 on the week, defeating Trinity 3-0 and Susquehanna 3-0 before falling to AVCA No. 9 NYU 3-2 in a battle of two nationally-ranked foes.

The Beavers extended their winning streak to 11 with wins over Springfield (3-2), Salve Regina (3-0), Mount Holyoke (3-0) and UMass Dartmouth (3-0).

t-2. No. 24 Tufts (6-3, 1-1 NESCAC) | 201 points

The Jumbos went 2-1 on the week, defeating Coast Guard (3-0) and AVCA No. 9 NYU (3-2) before falling to Susquehanna (3-1).

 

4. Endicott (7-3, 1-0 CCC) | 169 points 

The Gulls went 2-0 on the week, defeating Suffolk (3-1) and UMass Boston (3-0)

5. No. 18 (AVCA) MIT (11-1, 4-0 NEWMAC) | 132 points

The Engineers enjoyed a 3-0 week, knocking off Wellesley (3-0) and WPI (3-1) in NEWMAC action as well as Colby-Sawyer (3-0).
