Lancers Sink Bucs In MASCAC Matchup

Worcester, Mass.- The Worcester State Lancers (10-13, 3-1 MASCAC) traveled to Bourne to take on the Mass. Maritime Buccaneers (4-15, 0-4 MASCAC) in a Saturday afternoon conference matchup.

The Lancers had control of the games for most of the day. The team swept the Bucs with three straight wins to seal the conference matchup. Worcester won the first set convincingly by a score of 25-13.

 

The second game was decided by two points in Worcester's favor, the only game that the Bucs kept close on the day, while the third set was decided by a lopsided victory of 25-12 to finish off Mass. Maritime.

 

Sophomore middle-hitter Kate Stedronsky (Sea Girt, N.J.) led all players with 12.5 points and kills (6). First-year outside hitter Beatrice Gamboa-Estrella (Simi Valley, CA) finished second amongst all players on the day with 10 points and kills (5).

 

MASCAC dig leader and graduate student Camryn Burgio (Quincy, Mass.) finished her day with 17 digs, the most on the afternoon. 

 

Junior setters Angela Colonis (Waterford, CT) and Megan Bardis (Rutland, Mass.) led all players in assists (11).

 

With the win, Worcester State improves their record to (11-13, 4-1 MASCAC) while Mass. Maritime drops to (4-16, 0-5 MASCAC).

 

The team's next game will come against the Framingham St. Rams for a 7:15 p.m. as the Lancers continue their road trip.
